FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The first matchup this season between Northeast Conference schools from the Nutmeg State went to Sacred Heart University. The Pioneers sweep Central Connecticut State, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-15), on Friday.

In all three sets, the Pioneers used a run midway through the frame to pull away. SHU led 8-5 in the opener but went on a 14-4 run that was capped by a block from
Mackenzie Eford and
Sarah Ciszek.
Set two was close at 12-9 before SHU put together an 8-4 stretch to push the margin to 20-12. The final stanza was 7-5 in SHU's favor, but the Pioneers put the match away with a 9-4 run that was topped by a
Dominique Felix kill.
The Pioneers had a balance offensive attack as all six hitters had at least six kills.
Jasmine Rogers led all players with 10 winners. Ciszek posted eight kills, 27 assists, five digs and four blocks. Felix notched seven kills and 10 digs.
