Pioneers Take Second at Fairfield Invite

Rosemery Nieto and Emma Chambers picked up their first career wins

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- After a strong night of diving the day before, the Sacred Heart University swimming and diving team took second at the Fairfield Invite this afternoon.

Of Note:

First-year Rosemery Nieto picked up her first college win, taking first in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:16.26. She also took second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:47.52.
First-year Meghan Hammarlund took third in the 100 meter backstroke touching the wall at 1:08.35.
Emma Chambers picked up her first ever win in the 200m butterfly, also setting a meet record with a time of 2:24.42.
Nicole Tingley had a strong day in the pool as she took first in the 100m butterfly with a time of 1:06.69. She also took second in the 50m freestyle (27.64) and third in the 100m freestyle (1:01.53)
The team of Casey Barrett, Erika Krikorian, Devon Corvaia, and Alivia Gibson took second in the 400m freestyle (4:11.73)

Up Next:

The Pioneers will return to the pool Saturday, October 16 when they travel to Iona to face Wagner and the Gaels. The meet begins at 8:30 a.m. with diving events.
