SHELTON, Conn. — After two postponed home games, the Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey program finally got a chance to skate on home ice Tuesday. Unfortunately, the Pioneers could not celebrate their home opener as they lost 3-1 to LIU.

• Midway through the first period Abby Latorella put the Sharks on the board. Alva Johnsson recorded the second of her two points with a goal at the 7:58 mark of the second period.

• With 6:25 left in the second period, Junior Nicole Guidi connected puck to net during a power play, her first goal of the season, assisted by first-year Paige McNeil.
• LIU's Megan Bouver tallied an insurance goal with 2:17 left in the game. 
• The Sharks took 40 shots on goal, while the Pioneers had 17.
• The conferences rivals have faced off three times this season, with the Sharks leading 2-1-0, but the Pioneers have another shot for a victory at home February 24 at 12 p.m.
