Box Score 2 STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart University baseball team was swept in its season-opening double-header by America East top seed Stony Brook on Friday. The Seawolves narrowly won 1-0 in the opener and dominated 7-1 in the second contest.

Of Note:
In the opener, the Pioneers had opportunities to cross home plate with seven batters left on base through six innings. Sacred Heart had four hits, while SBU only connected bat to ball twice and scoring once.
Starting Pitcher Cooper Thompson went four innings in game one, letting up a single hit and one walk with five strikeouts. Tyler Briggs closed the game, letting up the only run of the game on two hits, with one walk and three Ks.
SHU avoided a shutout in the second game with Robert Farruggio scoring in the top of the eighth inning. The designated hitter went 1-1 with a double and was sent home by a ground out from Joey Skarad.
Scoring opportunities were limited in game two with one hit, and a walk.
