Box Score HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — In the first fall-to-spring contest for the Sacred Heart University field hockey program, the team fell 1-0 to Hofstra on Sunday. The Pride sit at 2-3 on the season while the Pioneers are 0-1 with six more games left in the regular season.
SHU had two shots in the four periods, with Hofstra firing nine. Sophomore midfielder Julia Flood and junior midfielder Kayla Kruk were responsible for the two attempts to send one between the posts.
Senior goalkeeper Hailey Power tallied four saves on the day among the five shots taken on goal. The Pioneers were able to hold the Pride to only one goal in the second by Mercedes Currie on a counter attack just outside the goal, assisted by Jasmijn Verdoes.
The Pioneers are back in action after two weeks of rest at home versus Fairfield on March 18 at 5 p.m.
