Box Score 2 BROOKVILE, N.Y. — After a two-week hiatus, the Sacred Heart University baseball team split its opening games at LIU this afternoon as the Pioneers dominated the first game 9-5 and narrowly lost 5-3 in the second.

Game 1
Score: Sacred Heart 9, Long Island 3
Of Note:
- Robert Farruggio led off the scoring with a single through the left side to send home Elijah Brown and Justin Jordan in the first inning.
- Justin Jordan and Joe Emerson led the team with a pair of runs each.
- Emerson sent his first career home run over the left-center fence to clear the bases and drove three in.
- In the third inning, Austin Markmann and Jordan crossed the plate after a throwing error by first base, to put the Pioneers up 4-3 and a lead the Sharks couldn't come back from.
- Jordan stole second in the fourth and advanced to third on the throw. Emerson scored on a fielding error by the shortstop.
- Chase Jeter threw for six innings with seven strikeouts to secure his fourth victory.

Score: Long Island 5, Sacred Heart 3
Of Note:
- Markmann sent a sacrifice fly out to center field to send Brown home. Brown doubled and stole third to put himself in scoring position for the first run of the game in the first inning
- In the top of the fifth, Emerson had a leadoff single and stole second before Jordan drove him home. Jordan also stole second to score off a single up the middle from Brown.
