Box Score BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Thanks to Austin Markmann's three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, the Sacred Heart University baseball team defeated LIU, 8-7, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday.

Of Note:
- Trailing by four in the eighth with two outs, Markmann cranked one out the park to send home Elijah Brown and Isiah Daubon with the eventual winning runs.
- The Pioneers gave up five runs in the seventh, but got them all back in the eighth. Prior to the Markmann dinger, Daubon doubled to score Danny Glendon and Anthony Porrino.
- Coming on in relief, left-hander Luke Hansen induced an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the third.
- Right fielder Joe Emerson saved a potential run in the second when he fired a laser to cut down LIU's Cade Biddle, who tried to tag up from second.
- Robert Farruggio led off the fifth inning with a solo dinger to left field, putting up the Red and White, 3-2.
- After stealing his league-leading 13th base, Brown scored the first run in the opening inning off a Markmann single to center field.
- Left-hander Michael Attonito relieved Jack Bebbington to clean up the seventh with two on base and no outs to garner his first win of the season.
- First-year pitcher Jake Babuschak closed out a scoreless ninth to secure his first career save.
