SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Despite the offensive shift in the second half, the Sacred Heart University field hockey team couldn't stop Vermont on Saturday. The Pioneers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Catamounts in the final game of their two-day road stint in Syracuse.

The Pioneers fell to 0-2 while Vermont won its season opener.

In the first two minutes of the game, Vermont found the back of the net on it's very first shot to take the lead. UVM converted off penalty corners in the second and third quarters.

SHU had six shots, all in the second half, compared to Vermont's 10.
Isabelle Chamberlain accounted for half, including a shot on goal at the end of the fourth quarter.

Sacred Heart hosts its first home game on September 3 at 7 p.m. against Georgetown at Yale University's Johnson Field.
