Pioneers Defeated by the Bison 4-2

Kayla Kruk and Isabelle Chamberlain score first goal of the season

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Despite holding a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, the Sacred Heart University field hockey team couldn't keep the energy alive in the second half on Sunday. The Pioneers dropped a 4-2 contest on the road against Bucknell.

In the first eight minutes, co-captain Kayla Kruk slapped in her first goal of the season to give the Red & White the lead 1-0. Isabelle Chamberlain followed suit three minutes later for her first point of her sophomore year. Mia Katterman tallied both assists on the day for a career-high.

Before the half, the Bison connected for two shots to knot the game at 2-2.
In the third quarter, Bucknell sealed the win with two more shots, including one off a penalty corner.

SHU remains on the road to face Lehigh on September 26.
