Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. – Despite outshooting Mount St. Mary's, 26-8, the Sacred Heart University women's soccer team fell, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon. The 26 shots marks a season-high for the Pioneers, and the last time the Red & White took that many chances was during the spring 2021 season against the Mountaineers. 
 
The Pioneers move to 1-1 against conference opponents and 3-4-1 overall. The Moutaineers pick up their first conference victory as they advance to 1-1 in the NEC and 3-7 overall. 
 
The Mountaineers took an early lead just three minutes into the game. Kalli Bell threaded a pass through the Pioneer defensive line to Hannah Cooksey, forcing 
Elyssa Kipperman off her line. Cooksey fired it past Kipperman for the initial lead. 
 
In the 25
th minute, Mount St. Mary's intercepted a pass to maintain possession in its offensive third. Bell crossed the ball to Isabella Wender who tapped it in on the far post. Elisabeth Rockwell earned an assist on the goal as well. 
 
Sophomore 
Madison Palma cut the Mountaineer lead in half in the 35
th minute. 
Maria Nolan played the ball to 
Grace O'Hara who one-timed it to Palma at the six. 
 
Mount St. Mary's Maggie Wishart extended to a two-goal cushion before the halftime break when she bended the ball into the net off a corner kick. 
 
O'Hara led the Red & White with a season-high eight shots, as she put two on target. Twelve Pioneers also took their chance at a goal including

Sacred Heart returns to Park Ave. Field for a midweek match-up against St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday, September 30 at 12 p.m.
