WINCHENDON, Mass. — In the second matchup of the two-game road stint, the Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team lost, 2-0, to Franklin Pierce on Saturday.
The Pioneers dropped to 10-10-1 overall and 5-4-1 in NEWHA, while the Ravens improved to 11-8-1 and 7-3.
The goose egg remained on the board through a scoreless first until FPU recorded a short-handed goal seven and a half minutes into the second period. The home team padded their lead with an empty-net goal with 45 seconds left in the final period.
Frankie Sanchez caught 38 shots in the cage to hold third in the league with 488 saves.

Nicole Guidi recorded five blocks and is third on the team with 40.

Paige McNeil accounted for four shots apiece in the 21 tallied by the offense.
