NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Sacred Heart won its first game on the year, beating Colgate University at home 4-3.
Led by three goals from
Aine Keaney and a goal from
Ines Braithwaite, the Pioneers were put their first game in the win column for the 2022 season.
Keaney scored her first goal on an assist from
Mira Poelzer with 8:21 left in the first quarter before Colgate tied the game nearly four minutes later. Braithwaite would make it a 2-1 game with help from
Kelsey Fithen just before the closing of the first quarter.
Keaney put the only goal on the scoresheet with 7:21 left in the second quarter. Colgate went on to score two goals within two minutes in the third before Keaney put the game away on an assist from
Ally Frampton with under nine and a half to play in the final quarter.
Samantha Maresca had the start in goal today, earning her first win on the year while saving five goals.
