SHU Game Notes
The Sacred Heart Men's Hockey Team opens its 2022-23 home regular season by hosting Canisius (2-5, 0-0 AH) twice this weekend. The Pios and  Golden Griffins drop the puck on Friday at 7 before returning Saturday at 4. Both games air live on FloSports TV.
SERIES
Canisius, which has a 28-19-9 lead in the overall series, owns a six-game (4-0-2) unbeaten streak vs. SHU after winning a pair of 3-1 games last winter. The last Pioneers' win was a 6-2 decision on 11.4.17.
PIONEERSÂ
The Pioneers, winners of three of their last four games, erased deficits both nights and came away with a split last weekend at Niagara. SHU tied game one after falling behind 3-0, eventually falling 6-4. The Pios, who had eight different goal scorers and 16 players notch points on the weekend, were down early in game two and then reeled off five straight to win 5-1. Grad student F

Blake Humphrey (1-1-2), the AH Rookie of the Week, and

Conner Hutchison added 1-1-2 to help SHU rise atop the AH standings with nine points and a tie with RIT.
CANISIUS
The Golden Griffins, coming off a pair of two-goal losses at home to Miami, have wins over RPI and Ferris State. the alma mater of Canisius head coach Trevor Large. Nick Bowman leads the team with eight points (4-4), while Daniel DeGrande has a team-high five goals.
