SHELTON, Conn. — The Pioneers nearly erased a three-goal deficit but came up a goal shy against LIU today. Six different SHU skaters had a point in the 4-3 NEWHA loss to LIU.
Paige McNeil struck first for the Pioneers (1-3 overall, 1-1 NEWHA) just 7:42 into the contest on a power play with an assist from
Kailey Smith. LIU then reeled off four straight goals.
Sophie Lupone cut the lead in half on an assist from
Rachel DeLong 8:01 into the second period, and then
Katie Keenan made it a one-goal game in the third.
Sydney Antonakis and
Elizabeth Jacobson had assists on that one.
Carly Greene had the SHU net today and posted 35 saves for the Pioneers, whose next contest is in Shelton in a NEWHA rematch against Post on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m.
