Box Score HAMDEN, Conn. — Sacred Heart women's ice hockey matched up with University of Connecticut in the latter match of Friday evening's Nutmeg Classic, losing 3-2 in overtime.
Delani Mackay opened up the scoring for the game 18:03 into the first period with help from
Paige McNeil and
Katie Keenan that was swiftly countered by an even strength UCONN goal. 3:04 into the second period
Kelly Solak found the net on assists from
Nicole Guidi and
Anastasia Sloan before UCONN found another equalizer two and a half minutes later. The Huskies were able to find the net in overtime to seal a 3-2 victory.
Carly Greene made her ninth start between the posts for the Pioneers, stopping 54 of 57 shots.
Sacred Heart goes to 6-10-1 overall on the year. The Pioneers will compete again in the Nutmeg Classic Saturday in Hamden, Conn., where they'll play Bemidji State in the consolation match.
