NEW BRITAIN, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team ended the regular season on a high note as it edged Central Connecticut State, 1-0, on Thursday.
First-year David Garcia Gallego tallied the first goal to give the Pioneers an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.
Sacred Heart took eight shots with two on target compared to CCSU's six with one on frame. Despite being held to three shots in the first half, the Pioneers went on to outshoot the Blue Devils, 5-0, in the second.

Justin Siegel eclipsed his sixth shutout of the season and eighth of his career while collecting one save.
With the victory along with a Saint Francis draw and LIU loss, Sacred Heart will be the No. 4 seed in the Northeast Conference tournament and host the first round at Park Ave Field on Sunday.
