Pioneers Travel to Fairfield for Crosstown Rivalry Game

Sacred Heart will be on the road for its next four games, starting with Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team will hit the road for a crosstown rivalry matchup against Fairfield University on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM at the Stags new Leo D. Mahoney Arena. The Pioneers are 5-4 on the season and the Stags are 3-6 overall.

 Opening Tip:
  • Sacred Heart and Fairfield meet for the ninth time. The Pioneers are 0-8 all-time with the Stags. In the last meeting, Fairfield won, 71-61 on November 20, 2021. This was the first game between the teams since the 2016-17 season.
  • The Pioneers hit the road after a 2-1 week, last week. SHU beat Western New England, 100-59, and New Hampshire, 66-61, but fell to Lowell for the second time this season, 70-59.
  • Junior Nico Galette had two double-doubles last week in both of the Pioneers' victories. He had 22 points with 10 rebounds against WNE and scored 17 points with 13 rebounds against UNH.
  • SHU hits the road for its next four games with stops at: Fairfield, the University of Pittsburgh, Stony Brook, and Saint Joseph's University.
  • Sacred Heart has three players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Galette with 17.1, Raheem Solomon with 13.0, and Joey Reilly with 11.9.
  • Head Coach Anthony Latina is in his 10th season as the head coach of Sacred Heart.
  • Galette was named to the All-NEC preseason team.
