Men’s Basketball Heads to Albany for Midweek Matchup at Siena

Conference play continues in Albany

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team travels to MVP Arena in Albany, N.Y., for a midweek Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) matchup at Siena on Wednesday, Jan. 14, with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m.

OPENING TIP
  • Sacred Heart and Siena will meet for the 11th time in series history, but just the third time in the programs' Division I eras. The all-time series is tied at 5–5, with the Saints holding a 2–0 edge in Division I meetings.
  • The Pioneers enter the matchup following a 70–60 home loss to Quinnipiac on Sunday, while Siena is coming off a 67–50 road win at Mount St. Mary's.

SCOUTING SIENA
  • Siena enters the week fifth in the MAAC standings with a 4–2 conference record. The Saints' two league losses have come by narrow margins to Iona (75–72) and Merrimack (63–59).
  • Defensively, Siena ranks second in the MAAC, while its offense sits eighth.
  • The Saints have three players averaging double figures, led by Gavin Doty (15.7 ppg), who ranks third in the conference, along with Justice Shoats (12.1 ppg) and Francis Folefac (10.8 ppg).
  • Siena was selected second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll and is coming off a 67–50 road victory at Mount St. Mary's.
LAST TIME OUT
  • Sacred Heart led at the half and remained in control deep into the second half, but a late surge by Quinnipiac proved decisive as the Bobcats pulled away for a 70–60 MAAC win on Sunday.
  • Hill (21 points) and Ralph-Beyer (17 points) combined for 38 points off the bench to pace the Pioneers.
