Sacred Heart Wraps Up Road Trip at Saint Francis

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball plays its final road game of the regular season at Saint Francis on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN3 with Craig D'Amico and Tykera Carter on the call. 

OPENING TIP

  • Both teams are searching for a win after losing its previous contests. Sacred Heart will look to rebound after a 63-40 loss at Mount St. Mary's. Saint Francis is coming off a 58-55 loss to Central Connecticut State.
  • The Pioneers last met the Red Flash at the Pitt Center on January 23. Saint Francis took the 69-66 victory in overtime. Olivia Tucker led the Pioneers with 18 points with 12 of them coming from the three-point line.
  • Sacred Heart is second in the NEC and 87th nationally in the fewest turnovers with 368, with the lowest amount committed at a season-low (11) in the first game of the season at Hartford on November 10.
  • The Pioneers are second in the conference and 35th nationally on defense in three-point field goal percentage at 27.2%.
  • Sonia Smith is fifth in scoring in the NEC, averaging 13.0 points per game. She also ranks fourth in assists (4.3) and in steals (1.7) per game. Olivia Tucker ranks third in the league in three-point field goals made with 2.1 per game. Carly Stroemel is averaging 1.0 blocks per game, which is seventh in the conference.
