D’amore’s Two-Run Homer Not Enough at Richmond, 9-3

Michael Hernandez leads the Pioneers with four hits to start the season

RICHMOND, Va. — Only five games in his collegiate career, Dante D'amore cranked one out of centerfield to bring in two runs for the Sacred Heart University baseball team in the second inning. However, Pioneers dropped the 9-3 contest at the University of Richmond on Sunday.

Of Note:
In his first at bat against the Spiders, D'amore ignited the scoring with his two-run homerun that brought in Trevor Fagan to put the Pioneers up, 2-0.

In back-to-back at bats, Richmond evened the score at two-all in the bottom of the third inning. The home team took the lead in the fifth with a triple-run homer.

Michael Hernandez put himself in scoring position with a double to centerfield. The second basemen then scored off Sam Mongelli's single to leftfield

The Red & White let up a combined four runs across the seventh and eighth inning to bring the game to its final score.
