BOCA RATON, Fla. — With a mild tropical storm coming across the stadium in the early innings, the Sacred Heart University baseball team couldn't fight the strong Florida winds on Saturday. The Pioneers fell 10-2 in game two at Florida Atlantic.

The Pioneers let up a pair of unearned runs in the first two innings to trail early, 2-0. Florida Atlantic did the most damage in a five-run third inning to take extend the lead to seven.
Sacred Heart scored both its runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit within five.
Trevor Fagan reached first on an error by the shortstop followed by back-to-back stolen bases off wild pitches for a career high. With the catcher in scoring position,
Joe Emerson grounded out to shortstop to bring in Fagan's unearned run.
Sam Mongelli blasted his second homer of the season out of left field for a season-high two homeruns.
The bullpen only allowed a one hit since the third before the Owls broke the drought to score their final three in the bottom of the eighth for the final 10-2 score.
Ryan LaMay opened the first five innings with nine hits and three strikeouts. The right-hander had two-straight 1, 2, 3 innings to close out his final two on the mound.Â
Relief pitchers
Jake McDowell and
Owen MacDonnell had a combined four strikeouts across the last three innings.
With bases loaded, SHU had the opportunity to get within one in the top of the sixth after two walks and a hit by pitch, but Florida Atlantic's offense caught a popped-up ball to get out of the inning and strand the three runners.
