BOCA RATON, Fla. — In the final game of the weekend series before leaving the Sunshine State, the Sacred Heart University baseball team fell, 11-1, to Florida Atlantic on Sunday.

Florida Atlantic nabbed an early lead with six runs including a grand slam in the opening inning. The Owls extended its lead with three runs across the next two frames to put the home team up, 9-0.

Sam Mongelli singled along the right line to send
Joe Emerson home and wipe the zero off the board. Emerson got into scoring position after he capitalized on a double through right field and stole third off a wild pitch to Mongelli.

Jack Kramer and
Owen MacDonnell tidied up the innings with three quick outs in the fourth and fifth innings. First-year pitcher MacDonnell was the first pitcher in four at bats to strikeout the Owls lead-off batter.
