Pioneers Place Second at AIC 7's Tournament

Alyssa Cunningham tallied five tries

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Sacred Heart University women's rugby team began the seven's spring season with a second place finish at the AIC 7's Tournament on Saturday.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first half off a pair of tries by Alyssa Cunningham and Fabiola Millen-Faustin 13:12 and 14:00 minutes into the half.
AIC came back in the second half with a try 5:30 into the half from Lou Justice.
The Yellow Jackets evened the score up at 14 off a penalty try by Kassidy Pothier to result in the 14-14 tie.

The Pioneers took a 14-0 lead in the first half off a pair of tries by Cunningham and Millien-Faustin with 4:43 and 0:01 left in the half.
SHU tallied three more tries in the second half coming from Jailin Jackson (5:33 left), Samantha McGann (2:16 left) and Nia Williams sealed the win with a try with 0:05 left to secure the 33-0 victory.
This is the first time this season SHU has shutout an opponent.

SHU took a 5-0 lead with 6:24 remaining in the opening half off a try by Alyssa Cunningham for her third of the day.
Army responded with six unanswered tries to secure the 33-5 victory.
