Of Note:
Four runs in the fifth put the Pioneers up, 5-3. Rookie Dante D'amore's double to left center brought home Michael Hernandez, George Sutherland and Robert Farruggio. The first-year had a team-leading and career-high three RBIs.Â
Unfortunately, that lead was short-lived as St. John's scored four runs in the fifth to take the 7-5 lead. Jermaine White's two-out single to left center off reliever Owen MacDonnell plated the go-ahead runs.Â
Trevor Fagan's single to right field in the second drove Hernandez home and knotted the game, 1-1.Â
Farruggio cut the deficit to one in the top of the sixth with a single to right field to allow Justin Jordan to cross the plate.Â
The home team padded their lead with six more runs across the sixth and seventh innings.
