Sacred Heart Takes Down Delaware State 14-3

Wax led Pioneers with career-high three goals

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team picked up a 14-3 home victory over Delaware State on Sunday.

Of Note
Claire Ferguson got the Pioneers on the board at the 12:27 mark of the first quarter that sparked a 9-0 scoring run that extended into the second quarter.
 
Delaware State chipped in a goal at the 11:28 mark before Lydia Werlau assisted Grace Reinold for a goal to make it a 10-1 game. Five minutes later, Kelly Nolan flung the ball into the net and Sacred Heart took the 11-1 lead going into halftime.
 
Despite being held scoreless in the third quarter, the Pioneers limited the Hornets to only one goal.
 
Emma Kittredge and Caroline Wax contributed two goals in the beginning of the fourth quarter. Delaware State scored its third goal of the game before Wax notched another to seal the victory.
 
The Pioneers outshot the Hornets 42-9 and picked up a season-high 25 ground balls.
 
Wax led Sacred Heart with a career-high three goals. Ferguson, Kittredge and Reinold notched two goals apiece.
