BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — With two outs and runners in scoring position, the Sacred Heart University baseball team regained its footing in game two of the doubleheader thanks to a
Justin Jordan walk-off single. The Red & White defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 8-7 in the second game after they fell 10-3 in game one on Saturday. Thanks to the split, the Pioneers took the series, 2-1.

The Knights captured a five-run lead off five hits in the second inning. FDU remained hot with five more runs across the third, fourth, sixth and eighth innings.
Robert Farruggio put the Pioneers on the board with a solo home run out of left field in the seventh for his first this season.
Jordan hit a lead-off double in the bottom of the eighth and was brought home by Sam Mongelli in the next at-bat.
In the next frame, Farruggio notched his third hit of the day with a double down the left-field line. A fly out moved him into scoring position before a Dante D'amore single brought him in for the final run of the game.
As the designated hitter, Farruggio led the team with two runs, a home run and an RBI after he went 3-4.
The bullpen combined for nine strikeouts with four coming off the glove of reliever Owen MacDonnell. The first-year came on the mound after one batter in the sixth and stranded two.

Trailing by two runs, the Pioneers rallied back in the bottom of the ninth inning thanks to an error by the Knights' first baseman. The error allowed D'amore to reach first instead of recording the final out of the game.

Pinch runner Johnny Greene got in scoring position after he advanced off a wild pitch. With two outs, Jordan brought Greene home with a walk-off single.
