The game went through five ties before Mount St. Mary's responded with two unanswered goals to take the 7-5 lead going into halftime.
Grace Reinold and
Sydney Colesworthy each found the back of the net twice.
The Pioneers were held scoreless in the third quarter as the Mountaineers contributed three goals to extend their lead to 10-5 going into the final period.
Lydia Werlau and
Maci Black ended Sacred Heart's scoring drought with two in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter. Werlau scored again at the 6:53 mark to make it a two-point game. But Mount tallied two insurance goals to extend its lead, 13-8.
Mount outshot Sacred Heart 32-19, including 23-15 between the pipes. The hosts also won 17 draw controls compared to nine by the visitors.
Reinold matched her season-high with three goals Black notched a career-high four draw controls.
Natalie Cook picked up a game-high five ground balls.
