SHU Returns to Campus Field For Homecoming Versus Dartmouth

Pioneers start home slate against Big Green at 2 p.m.

Following three-straight road games to start the 2022 campaign - the first time since the opening to the 2012 season - the Sacred Heart University football team will finally play a game at Campus Field. The Pioneers open the first of three-consecutive home games versus Dartmouth. The Big Green have won the last four contests in the series, including a 41-3 decision last year. 

OPENING KICKOFF

  • After three-straight road games to start the year, Sacred Heart plays its home opener on Saturday against Dartmouth. It's also SHU's annual homecoming game, where the Pioneers are 5-4 under Mark Nofri.
  • The Big Green have won the last four contests, including a 41-3 victory last season at Dartmouth.
  • The Pioneers fell behind in the third quarter at Morgan State and made a comeback, but ultimately fell to the Bears, 24-9.
  • Dartmouth opened its season last week with a 35-13 win over Valparaiso. Zack Bair rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown.
  • Sacred Heart blocked a pair of punts at Morgan State, including one for a safety that accounted for SHU's first two points. 
  • Through three games, SHU leads the FCS allowing 84.3 passing yards per game. SHU is also top ten in total defense (3rd) and scoring defense (9th).
  • Sacred Heart has a pair of players on national award watch lists. Malik Grant was named to the Walter Payton Award and CFPA Performer of the Year lists while defensive end Kevin Peprah was selected to the Buck Buchanan list.
