Sacred Heart Continues Win Streak Against Merrimack

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball looks to extend its win streak on Thursday as it welcomes Merrimack to the Pitt Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on NEC Front Row with Randy Brochu and Joe DeSantis on the call.

OPENING TIP

  • Sacred Heart meets Merrimack for the 10th time. Last season, the Pioneers split the series with the Warriors, taking the 61-56 win in game two.
  • Sacred Heart is on a five-game win streak and 4-0 start in conference play. SHU picked up a 73-60 victory at Saint Francis on MLK Day. Ny'Ceara Pryor led with 22 points, five assists and five steals. Sajada Bonner had 17 points while Sierra Johnson notched her first career double-figure scoring performance with 16.
  • The Pioneers are third in the NEC in combined rebounds with 35.4 per game and fourth in offensive rebounds with 11.4 per game.
  • Ny'Ceara Pryor is a seven-time NEC Rookie of the Week honoree and a two-time NEC Player of the Week and Met Basketball Writer's Association Honorable Mention. The guard leads Sacred Heart with 17.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 4.3 steals per game. Pryor is the leader in the NEC and nation in steals and steals per game. In addition to being the leader in the conference in scoring. Pryor has scored 20+ points in seven games.
  • Bonner was selected to the MBWA Honorable Mention after her outstanding performance of 20 points and perfect 6-of-6 from three-point line against St. Francis Brooklyn (1/14).
  • Carly Stroemel is second in the NEC in blocks per game (1.4) and total blocks (23). The senior is nationally ranked 85th in blocks per game and 89th in total blocks.
