Pioneers Back on the Road to Close Series With Stonehill

Sacred Heart looks to bounce back after two straight losses

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart men's basketball team returns to the road to close out the Northeast Conference season series with Stonehill on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM. The Pioneers are looking to bounce back after two consecutive conference losses. Sacred Heart is 11-12 on the season and 4-4 in NEC play, while the Skyhawks are 9-14 overall, and 5-3 in conference action.

Opening Tip:
  • Sacred Heart and Stonehill meet for the second time this season in Northeast Conference action. The Skyhawks won the NEC opener, 74-67 in the Pitt Center on December 29th. Junior Nico Galette led three players in double figures in the game against Stonehill with 23 points, Mike Sixsmith was second with 16, and Joey Reilly was third with 12. Galette and Tanner Thomas tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven.
  • SHU is coming off a 74-70 loss to LIU at home on Thursday night. Galette and Bryce Johnson both recorded double-doubles in the loss.
  • Galette has scored in double figures in every game but one this season, as he leads the team with 15.7 points per game. Raheem Solomon is second on the team (11.3), and Joey Reilly is third (11.1)
  • Johnson has seven double-doubles this season, Galette has three, and Tanner Thomas has one. Johnson leads the team in rebounds, 8.1 per game, and Galette is second with 6.9.
  • Johnson leads the NEC in defensive rebounds with 149 and is second overall in the NEC in overall rebounds with 187.
  • This season, Galette earned NEC Player of the Week once and has been a five-time Prime Performer.
  • Head Coach Anthony Latina is in his 10th season as the head coach of Sacred Heart.
  • Galette was named to the All-NEC preseason team.
  • Sacred Heart was tabbed second in the NEC preseason poll.
