Palumbo and Zarrella post major decisions.

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team made a push midway through its EIWA contest against Franklin & Marshall on Sunday but couldn't sustain the momentum. The Pioneers dropped a 35-11 decision to the Diplomats.

Sacred Heart fell to 0-9 while the Diplomats improved to 7-5.

SHU won three of four bouts to get within 16-11 of the hosts. Dakota Asuncion started the run by topping Aidan O'Shea, 6-2, at 141 pounds. Two matches later, senior Nick Palumbo posted a 15-5 major decision against Nick Alvarez.

Aidan Zarrella followed with a 12-3 major decision at 165 pounds over RJ Moore. Unfortunately, Franklin & Marshall won the last four contests to secure the team victory.

The Pioneers are home for their next four matches, starting February 5 against Bloomsburg at 1 p.m.
