Sacred Heart vs. Army
Atlantic Hockey Association
Tuesday, October 31 - 7 p.m.
Martire Family Arena - Fairfield, Conn.

BOO!
It's Halloween hockey on Tuesday night, as the Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team plays host to Army at Martire Family Arena. It is the first of three midweek Atlantic Hockey meetings between the two on the schedule this year. Fans are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to participate in the night's costume contest. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available through Ticketmaster. The game will air live on SNY in the tri-state area and is available online through FloSports as well. Randy Brochu and Paul Pacelli have the call, while Makena Wright handles sideline reporting.

LAST WEEKEND
SHU split a pair over the weekend against Niagara at Martire Family Arena. It was a bit of an odd weekend series, as the Pios led three different times on Friday night, but still suffered a 4-3 (OT) loss, only to turn around and post a 4-1 win on Saturday night, despite generating just 15 shots on goal. Braeden Tuck had a four-point weekend (1-3-4) and now sits at 99 career points (31-68-99), while TJ Walsh scored in both games and added an assist on Friday as well. The Pios blocked 19 shots in Saturday's contest, which was the most for the team in a regular-season Atlantic Hockey game since Jan. 19, 2018 at Air Force.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Army was supposed to open its Atlantic Hockey slate on Friday night at American International, but the game was postponed. Instead, the Black Knights have been idle since Oct. 13-14, when they traveled out west for the Ice Breaker tournament. Army dropped a 7-2 decision at No. 7 North Dakota and fell 3-2 (OT) at Bemidji State. Army has been outscored 16-4 across three games to start the season and is generating fewer than 20 shots per game.

PREVIOUSLY AGAINST ARMY
The two teams played just twice last year, with SHU rolling to a 5-0 victory in their final game at Harbor Yard on Jan. 5, and Army posting a 4-1 win at Martire Family Arena on Feb. 7. Marcus Joughin dished out four assists in the January meeting, while John Keranen scored twice for Army in the February affair.

ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Army is one of SHU's most-regular opponent, as the two have met 85 times in a series which dates all the way to February of 1996, during Sacred Heart's Division II days. The two have been conference competitors since 2000-01, first in the MAAC and then in Atlantic Hockey since 2003-04. Army hods a 38-34-13 edge overall against the Pioneers, which includes a 29-24-13 margin in Atlantic Hockey play. The series has been dominated by the home teams, with SHU holding a 22-11-6 record on home ice, though Army has taken the lone meeting so far at Martire Family Arena. Sacred Heart earned its first ever Atlantic Hockey win at Army on Nov. 14, 2003, with a 4-1 win at Tate Rink.

UP NEXT
SHU has a bye in Atlantic Hockey play this weekend, but will step out of conference for a trip to Long Island University on Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. in East Meadow, N.Y.
