
Pryor, Dudley Sweep NEC Weekly Awards

Pryor wins her fourth consecutive NEC honor, while Dudley takes her first
SOMERSET, N.J. – For the first time this season, the Sacred Heart University women's basketball team swept the Northeast Conference (NEC) weekly awards, as Ny'Ceara Pryor was named the Player of the Week and Nalyce Dudley the Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
The Pioneers went 1-1 over two games last week, defeating NJIT on Wednesday 57-48 before suffering a 60-50 loss at Iona on Sunday.
Pryor, who earned her fourth NEC Player of the Week nod out of five weeks this season, paced the Pioneers with 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game. The Baltimore, Md., native first tallied 20 points, six rebounds and four steals to lead the Pios in their home win over NJIT. She then paced Sacred Heart with 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists at Iona on Sunday. Pryor's double-double against the Gaels is the second of her sophomore season.
Dudley earned her first weekly award from the conference after being second on the Pioneers with 11.5 points per game last week. The first year forward from Norwich, Conn., also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 8-for-13 (61.5%) from the floor and 7-for-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line. She scored 12 points with six rebounds in SHU's win over NJIT and had 11 points at Iona. Dudley play has come on of late, scoring in double figures in each of the last four games.
Sacred Heart remains on the road to play Providence on Saturday, Dec. 16. The opening tip for the non-conference bout is slated for 5 p.m. at the Friars' Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
