WRAPPING UP THE FIRST HALF
The Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team closes out its first-half schedule this weekend, by jumping out of conference for a home-and-home series with ECAC member Princeton. The Pios have already matched their first-half win total of eight from a year ago, and will look to do one -- or two -- better heading into the break this time around. Randy Brochu and Paul Pacelli have the call on FloSports on Friday night, which will also be available live in the tri-state area on SNY. Saturday's game at Princeton will air on ESPN+. Tickets for Friday night are available via Ticketmaster.

LAST WEEKEND
SHU tallied a split on the road at fellow Atlantic Hockey title contender American International last weekend. On Friday night at Avon Old Farms, a pair of second-period goals and a third-period game-winner from Daniel Ebrahim held up in a wild 5-4 victory, as SHU snapped AIC's six-game winning streak and won its seventh straight Atlantic Hockey game in the process. The Yellow Jackets flipped the script on Saturday and snapped Sacred Heart's streak, with a 3-2 win behind a goal from John Lundy inside the final three minutes.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton is sitting at 4-5-1 through its first 10 games and looking to get to .500 or better as it wraps up the first half as well. The Tigers split a trip through New York's capital district last weekend, as they were blown out, 7-2, at Union on Friday night, before bouncing back with a 6-4 win at RPI on Saturday. Brendan Gorman dished out three assists in Saturday's victory and has 10 points (2-8-10) through 10 games, which ties him with Ian Murphy (4-6-10) for the team lead.

PREVIOUSLY AGAINST PRINCETON
Friday will mark the first meeting between the two teams in over 10 years, as they last squared off on Jan. 27, 2013 at Princeton's Hobey Baker Rink. The host Tigers chalked up a 5-2 victory on that occasion, behind two goals and an assist from Mike Ambrosia. Will Rayner and Chad Barthelmess found the net in defeat for SHU.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The two teams have met just three times in their history, all between January of 2011 and January of 2013, with Princeton winning all three. In addition to the aforementioned 2013 contest, the Tigers took a 4-3 victory earlier in that season, on Nov. 23, 2012, with Andrew ammon scoring all four Princeton goals at Harbor Yard. Princeton also tallied a 7-1 win over SHU at Hobey Baker Rink on Jan. 25, 2011, with Mike Kramer scoring twice.

UP NEXT
SHU heads into the semester break after Saturday night's game and will not see the ice in a game situation again until Saturday, Jan. 30, when Hockey East member New Hampshire pays a visit to Martire Family Arena. Puck drop on New Year's Eve Eve is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
