FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team has a quick turnaround on Saturday as it travels Merrimack. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. on NEC Front Row.
 
OPENING TIP
  • Sacred Heart looks to split the series with Merrimack this season in North Andover. The Pioneers fell by two against the Warriors at home back on January 19.
  • SHU looks for its first win at Hammel Court since 1997, back when it played at Division II.
  • The Pioneers currently tied for first in the Northeast Conference after winning at FDU 70-67 on Thursday. Olivia Tucker and Ny'Ceara Pryor contributed 20+ points.
  • SHU is off to its best conference start since the 2016-17 season with an 8-2 record. The Pioneers look to finish in the top rankings for the seventh time in program history.
  • SHU is second in the NEC in offensive rebounds with 12.1 per game and third in combined rebounds with 35.8 per game.
  • Pryor became the first player in program and NEC history to be selected to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist. The first year is an 11-time NEC Rookie of the Week, two-time NEC Player of the Week and five-time Met Basketball Writer's Association Honorable Mention honoree. Pryor is the leader in the nation in steals per game (4.3) and steals overall (104), in addition to being the leader in the conference in scoring (18.0). Pryor has scored 20+ points in 11 games.
  • Sajada Bonner leads the Pioneers and is third in the NEC with 47 three-pointers made. The graduate student notched a career-high six triples against SFBK.
