
Pioneers Conclude NEC Regular Season

SHU went 5-2 on the weekend
EAST HAVEN, Conn.—The Sacred Heart women's bowling team concluded its Northeast Conference regular season at the third and final NEC meet. The Pioneers finished the weekend in second place as they went 5-2.
Sacred Heart is the fourth seed in the conference as they prepare for the NEC women's bowling championship. In NEC play, the Pioneers are 12-9 on the season.
On the first day of competition, SHU went 2-2 with wins over Duquesne and LIU but fell to Fairleigh Dickinson and Merrimack.
Sacred Heart swept the second day with wins over Saint Francis, Wagner, and St. Francis Brooklyn. The three straight wins helped the Pioneers secure second place at the meet with a 5-2 record.
The NEC women's bowling championship will be March 24-26 at the Hamilton Lanes & Entertainment Center in Hamilton Township, NJ. The Pioneers will bowl in a play-in match to determine their fate for the bracket seedings.

OVERALL STATS FOR WEEKEND
Freshmen Megan Prettyman was part of the starting lineup in the first match against Duquesne helping the team with the big in a tie-breaker. She came out after game 1 of match #2 against LIU. She didn't come back into the lineup until the first match on Sunday and when she did, she was on fire. She threw 12 of 14 strikes over match 1 and 2. Overall for the weekend, she averaged 22.30 per frame with 91% filled frames and 57% strikes (26 out of 45 attempts). She converted 100% of her single pin spares and 8-count spares.
2022 NEC Rookie of the year, Rachel Glowniak, was next behind Prettyman in average with 19.78 per frame and converted 85% of makable spares.
Subs came off the bench and contributed to the team's success. Molly Chiesa, Morgan Brunet, Nicole Cona and Ryann Greene converted all their single pins spares with Morgan Brunet converting 100% of her makable spares.
