BOSTON – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team placed 10th at the two-day New England Championships, hosted by the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) at the TRACK at New Balance on Thursday and Friday. 

As a team, SHU collected 32.50, just .50 points shy of Central Connecticut State University in ninth place. UMass Amherst took home the top prize at the event with 129.50 points. 

Senior Kaylee Stenderowicz led the way for the Pioneers as she finished second in the triple jump after posting a season-best mark of 11.97m to earn the Pioneers eight points. 

Jada Alston also acquired SHU some points on Friday, as she placed seventh in the 60-meter dash with a final's time of 7.93 to collect two points for the team. 

For finishing eighth or better in their respective events, Stenderowicz, Alston, Madeline Archangelo, Magdalena Brogioli, Jennifer Pasram, and Sydney Abitanto all earned All-New England recognition. 

Tara Brody joined Alston with a stellar individual performance on Friday, as she tallied a season-best mark of 10.99m in the triple jump to place 11th. 

Outside of their individual accolades, both Pioneers' relay teams posted stellar outings. The team of Ava Srinivasan, Madison Breckner, Megan Schneider, and Tori Chorzepa took 10th in the 4x400. In the 4x800, Jacqueline Lage, Emily Raymond, Emma Doran, and Paige Nettesheim finished 11th with a season-best time of 10:10.15.

The Pioneers return to the track on Sunday, Feb. 5, to participate in the 23rd-Annual East Stroudsburg University DeSchriver Invitational at the Koehler Fieldhouse at 9:30 a.m.
