EUGENE, Ore. -
Sierra Thompson capped a very strong first season at Sacred Heart by finishing fourth in the heptathlon at the 2025 USA Track & Field Under-20 championships at the University of Oregon. Thompson scored a personal best of 5,042, which had her comfortably in the top four.
Thompson had quite an impact in her rookie season. At the Outdoor MAAC Championships, she finished second in the long jump with a school-record leap of 6.02 meters, which also was a MAAC Championship record. In addition, she was second in the 200 dash with a time of 24.28 and finished third in the 110 hurdles (14.50).
At the MAAC Indoor Championship, she finished sixth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.0 seconds.
Thompson, a South Kingston, R.I., native, also set school records in the long jump and 200 dash and was a two-time MAAC Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season.
