Women's Track and Field Finish Fourth at the MAAC Championships

A plethora of podium finishes lead the way
Emmitsburg, MD. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team concluded the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon with a fourth-place finish out of 12 teams. The final day of competition was highlighted by a plethora of podium finishes and strong performances across multiple events for the Pioneers.
Lauren Morales quickly got the day started for the Pioneers. In the discus event, Morales finished third overall after recording a mark of 42.27 meters.
Next up was the high jump event, where the Pioneers found plenty of success. Magdalena Brogioli led the way with a first-place finish after clearing 1.68 meters. Closely behind in third was Kaitlyn Caraco, who finished with a mark of 1.65 meters.
Elena Chaplin was the next podium finisher for the Pios. In the shot put event, she placed third overall with a mark of 13.05 meters.
On the track side, the Pioneers opened the running events with a second-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay. Magdalena Brogioli, Annalise Nassy, Ariyana Jackson, and Nyahingiva Musa combined to record a time of 46.29 seconds.
Multiple Pioneers landed atop the leaderboard in the 100-meter hurdles. Sierra Thompson led the way with a first-place finish after crossing the line in 13.99 seconds. Just milliseconds behind was Magdalena Brogioli, who capped off an incredible weekend with a second-place finish in 14.10 seconds.
Nyahingiva Musa earned the final two podium finishes of the weekend for the Pioneers. She first placed third overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.76 seconds before continuing her success in the 200-meter event, where she also finished third overall after recording a time of 24.39 seconds.
Overall, the Sacred Heart University Pioneers totaled 127.5 points across the two days of competition at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.
