NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team tallied four wins on its way to a third-place showing at the Merrimack College Alumni Classic on Friday and Saturday in North Andover, Mass.
SHU tallied 158 points at the event to take third place, edging Stonehill by 18.5 points. Merrimack won its home meet with 197.5 points.
First year
Magdalena Brogioli posted one of the strongest days for the Pioneers, winning the high jump (1.65m), placing fourth in the 100m hurdles (14.94), and taking 10th in the long jump (5.23m). In addition, Brogioli recorded new personal records in the high jump and 100m hurdles.
Keegan Pepin also tallied a PR and won an event this afternoon, accomplishing both feats in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:04.56.
Abbie Mokwuah posted a stellar day, posting three top-seven finishes with a win. The graduate student won the shot put with a throw of 13.22m. In addition, she finished sixth in the discus (32.49m) and seventh in the hammer throw (37.43m).
The Pios final win came from
Kaitlyn Luba in the javelin. The junior tallied a throw of 41.54m in the event, which took place yesterday.
First year
Leila Gary also tallied three top-six showings, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 400 meters. Gary posted PRs in the 400 (59.33) and 200 (26.48), in addition to placing third as a part of SHU's 4x100 team with
Alexus Delgado,
Megan Wassick, and
Jada Alston.
Ava Srinivasan tallied a second- and fifth-place showing this afternoon, taking second in the 400m hurdles (1:06.36) with a PR and fifth in the triple jump (10.70m).
Kaylee Stenderowicz also earned a second-place finish, taking runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 11.80m.
Ava Coscia and
Madeline Archangelo joined Brogioli in the top six of the high jump, finishing third and sixth, respectively. Coscia cleared 1.50m, and Archangelo cleared 1.45m.

Jada Grant,
Emily Arthur,
Tara Brody, and
Brianna Diaz all earned fourth-place finishes today. Diaz placed fourth in the discus with a personal-record throw of 34.28m. Alston (26.05) collected her fourth-place showing in the 200m, Grant (1:10.01) 400m hurdles, Arthur (14:52.35) 3,000m steeplechase, and Brody (11.06m) in the triple jump.
The Pioneers' final top-five individual finisher was
Jennifer Pasram (3.40m) in the pole vault.
The team of
Olivia Suter,
Emily Raymond,
Mollie Story, and
Nicole Parise finished third in the 4x400.
In addition to competing at the Merrimack Alumni Classic this weekend, SHU sent
Angela Kaiser to take part in the 5,000 meters at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational. The graduate student took 11th after clocking a personal record 17:53.47.
The Pios return to competition on Saturday, Apr. 22, to participate in the Rider University Invite.
