FLUSHING, N.Y.— The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team dropped its final Northeast Conference match in a 6-1 loss at St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday.
After the Terriers won the first doubles at No. 2, sophomore duo
Matyas Vencl and
Darius Eftekhar notched a victory at No. 3 on a score of 6-4 to keep the Pioneers' chances of taking the first point alive. It was also the 15
th nod for the pair. Unfortunately, St. Francis Brooklyn took No. 1 to start the match 1-0.
The Terriers dominated five of the six contests in singles to bring the match to its final score. Sophomore
Antoine Hernandez posted the Pioneers' only victory at No. 4, defeating Lucas Deliano in straight sets. It also marked the 10
th career win for the South Miami, Fla. native.
Up next, SHU wraps up the regular season at Holy Cross on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
