Women's Bowling Picked 18th in NTCA Preseason Poll

Pioneers open the season Oct. 12
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's bowling team was tabbed 18th in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) in the 2024-25 Preseason Coaches Poll on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pioneers received 656 total points in the poll, finishing one spot behind where they were picked in last season's poll. Jacksonville State took the top spot in the preseason rankings after winning the National Championship in its inaugural season with 31 of the possible 50 first-place votes.
SHU returned 11 players from a season ago when they finished second at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship. Highlighting Sacred Heart's returners is All-NEC First Teamer and All-Rookie member Karleigh LeMond. Molly Chiesa returns after being tabbed to the All-NEC Second Team, while Madilyn Yockel made the All-Rookie Team.
Sacred Heart also added a talented newcomer class featuring five new bowlers. The Pios' additions include first years Averyanna Thomas, Cira Arcangel, Grace Macak and Madison Bloom. SHU also brings in junior Hope Bunk, who transferred from Youngstown State.
The Pioneers begin the season on Saturday, Oct. 12, with the two-day Bud Whitman Memorial, hosted by Chestnut Hill in New Castle, Del.
