Men's Cross Country Takes Fourth at Fall Foliage Invitational

Mason and Vene place in top 20
SAINT ALBANS, Vt. — Michael Mason grabbed his third top-team finish of the season, taking an 11th overall slot as the Sacred Heart University men's cross country team wrapped up competition at the University of Vermont Fall Foliage Invitational on Sunday.
Mason, who finished four seconds from a top-10 placement, nearly secured a season-best time during the eight-kilometer race, taking home a time of 26:05.3. Following Mason, Matthew Vene and Giovanni Prestipino placed inside the top 25 harriers in the race, finishing with in under 27 minutes to take 19th and 22nd overall.
Continuing a standout season, first year Demetri Franzese grabbed 31st overall with a time of 26:57.8 to score for the Pios. Fellow first year harriers Anthony Esposito, Colin Trolio and Patrick Devine grabbed the final scoring placements for the Pios with al combining to place inside the top-70 competitors as the Pioneers grabbed a fourth-place team finish on the afternoon.
