LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University swim and dive team spit double dual with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents at Siena falling to Rider, 162-137, and defeated the Saints, 158-138 Saturday afternoon.
Sophia Velleco led the swimming portion with a win in the 200-butterfly in a time of 2:09.69. The sophomore also finished third in the 100-freestyle in 54.19 and second in the 100-butterfly in 59.05.
Senior
Melanie Sanchez secured second in the 200-butterfly and the 400-IM in 2:11.12 and 4:42.84, respectively.
Daniella Palamaro was right behind Sanchez in the 400-IM placing third with a time of 4:46.95.
First year
Julia Freshour paced the Pios in the 1000-freestyle finishing third with a time of 11:23.17.
Rosemery Nieto finished second in the 100-breaststroke in 1:08.52.
In the 200-backstroke, senior
Meghan Hammarlund led SHU with a second-place finish and time of 2:11.20.
On the diving side,
Phifey Boyers and
Sinclair Yadao when one-and-two in the 1M with scores of 230.95 and 222.65, respectively.
Lola Barrett led SHU in the sweep of the 3M with a score of 259.95. Yadao finished second (243.05) and Boyers took third (235.95).
