Women's Basketball Downs Morgan State by 22 Points on Thursday, 79-57

Wood finished one rebound shy of a career high with 12
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team rolled Morgan State to the tune of a 79-57 road victory on Thursday evening at the William H. Pitt Center.
Ny'Ceara Pryor led all players with a season-high 24 points, adding seven rebounds, five assists and three steals to finish with a stellar stat line.
Nalyce Dudley, Emma Kirby and Amelia Wood all posted outstanding outings tonight. Dudley recorded 13 points and five rebounds, Kirby had 12 points and seven boards, and Wood racked up seven points and 12 rebounds, one shy of her career-high, for a near double-double.

After a Morgan State bucket to make it a one-point game, Carmen William made a jumper that sparked a 6-0 run for Sacred Heart, giving the Pioneers a 12-5 advantage in the opening quarter. The Bears answered with a run of their own to tie it up 12-12 with 1:33 left in the opening frame. Williams scored to break the tie, but three points from Morgan State put the visitors ahead by one, 15-14. Pryor scored in the final three seconds to give SHU the lead heading into the second, 16-15.
The teams traded buckets through the opening minutes of the second quarter. With the game tied at 21-21, a Dudley layup sparked a 6-0 run for the Pioneers to take a 27-21. The Bears pulled within two, but SHU answered with back-to-back scores to extend the lead back to six. Morgan State hit a triple to pull within three, but a Pryor layup sparked a 9-2 run to give Sacred Heart a 40-30 lead at the half.
After Morgan State opened the third quarter with a layup, Sacred Heart went on a 10-0 run, highlighted by six points from Kirby, to put the Pios ahead 50-32. Morgan State hit a triple at 7:03 but SHU answered with back-to-back treys to extend its lead, 56-35, with 6:04 left. The Pios led by as much as 22, 64-42, in the third, taking a 64-48 advantage into the fourth.
SHU maintained its convincing lead for the entirety of the fourth quarter, tying its game-high advantage of 22 by the end of the game. SHU's 79-57 victory is the team's largest of the season and its biggest since beating Merrimack by 32 points, 73-41, at home in last season's Northeast Conference (NEC) semifinal.
