FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Following its road win at Wagner on Saturday, the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team returns home to take on FDU on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm. SHU, FDU, and Le Moyne are currently in a three-way tie for third place in the Northeast Conference standings.

LAST TIME OUT:

• Sacred Heart won on the road, 63-53 against Wagner on Saturday evening for the Pios first road win since Le Moyne on January 15.
• Kyle McGee led the Pioneers with 17 points while Alex Sobel added 13.
• Galette was the team leader in rebounds with 13, Raheem Solomon had a team-high four assists, and McGee and Galette each had three steals. 
• After a 29-29 tie at halftime, SHU shot 47.83% from the field in the second half, outscoring Wagner 34-24 to take the road win.
• SHU swept the season series with the Seahawks.

• Sacred Heart and FDU wrap up the season series on Thursday. The Pioneers fell on the road 93-91 in the last meeting, despite overcoming a 21-point deficit. This will be the 44th meeting all-time between the two teams. 
• Sacred Heart is 7-5 in Northeast Conference play and is tied for third place in the standings with FDU and Le Moyne. SHU is perfect at home in NEC play. The only losses in conference action have come on the road. 
• The Pioneers are coming off a huge road win over Wagner on Saturday, 63-53, their first road win since Jan. 15 at Le Moyne. 
• With four games left in the regular season, SHU will play three of the four at home. 
• Three active Pioneers are averaging in double figures: Nico Galette (13.8), Alex Sobel (11.7), and Joey Reilly (11.5). Sobel leads the team in rebounds (7.1), and Galette is second with 7.0 rpg. Sobel is one rebound away from 1,000 in his career.
• Sobel is tied for fourth in the nation in blocks with 69 (as of 2/21) and is tied for fifth in blocks per game with 2.65.
• SHU has four active 1,000-point scorers which is tied for the third most in the NCAA.  
• Reilly, Galette, and Tanner Thomas have brought in NEC Player of the Week awards for the Pioneers this season. Sobel has been a Prime Performer three times. 
• Galette, Reilly, and Kyle McGee were voted captains for 2023-24.
• SHU was selected first in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Galette and Reilly were selected to the All-NEC preseason team.
