
Equestrian Takes High Point Team at UCONN Show

Pios grab four first-place finishes during show
STORRS, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University equestrian team had a successful return to the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) format earning High Point Team honors against UConn and Fairfield on Saturday morning.
The Pios took the show with four first place finishes and nine podium finishes in total. Kylie Hwalek earned her first win of the season in Open Fences while Reagan Waggoner grabbed her second win of the season in Intermediate Fences. The Pios swept Open Fences as Lauren Radi and Emma Grimes took second and third, respectively.
Paige Sutton took home her second win in the Limit Flat, earning first in section B after taking section A in an IHSA home show on October 15. Kelly Mecatl rounded out the four first-place finishers for SHU earning a win in Intro. HU had strong showings elsewhere in Flats with Abigail Marsh taking second in the Open Flat while Emily Belies took second in the Intermediate flat as SHU earned High Point Team for the fifth time this year.
