SHU Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

Both teams earn national recognition following success in the classroom

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University men's and women's cross country teams have been identified as All-Academic teams as determined by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the association announced in early February.

The USTFCCCA gives All-Academic distinction to teams that have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including in the recent grading period.

On the men's side, the Pioneers racked up a team GPA of 3.39, joining Merrimack, Saint Francis and Central Connecticut State as the four NEC teams represented on this year's list. Meanwhile, the women's team earned a 3.65 GPA, finishing with the highest GPA out of the four NEC teams represented (SFU, Merrimack and CCSU).

The Pios completed the cross country season back in November at the NCAA DI Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships after fourth and fifth place finishes at the NEC Cross Country Championships by the women's and men's teams, respectively.
