Radi claims Reserve High Point Open Rider
SIMSBURY, Conn. — Lauren Radi collected two medal placements to highlight a successful day for the Sacred Heart University equestrian team as three riders cemented their place at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Zone 1 Championship later this spring.
Radi, who recently earned second and third place in Open Fences and Open Flat at the IHSA Zone I Region 5 Championships earlier this month, claimed Reserve High Point Open Rider honors with a first place showing in Open Fences and a second-place finish in the Open Flat to earn zone qualifications in both events.
SHU also had two more riders earn zone qualifications as Paige Sutton's first place showing in Limit Fences and Ciara O'Sullivan's first place in the Novice Flat were good enough to move them to zone championships. Sutton also had a great showing in the Limit Flat portion, placing third.
The Pios also showed well in the Cross Rails, earning a clean sweep as Kaylee Shindel took first place in front of fellow Pioneers, Amanda Cosentino and Julia Parlapiano who took first and second, respectively.
Lauren Radi – 1st Open Fences (zone qualification), 2nd Open Flat (zone qualification)
Paige Sutton – 1st Limit Fences (zone qualification), 3rd Limit Flat
Elliana Forgione – 6th Limit Fences
Amanda Cosentino – 2nd Cross Rails
Julia Parlapiano - 3rd Cross Rails
Kaylee Shindel – 1st Cross Rails
Ciara O'Sullivan – 1st Novice Flat (zone qualification)

The Pioneers await their fate in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) format and will be back in action at the IHSA Zone 1 Championships later this spring.
