NEW YORK — For the second consecutive season, Sacred Heart University women's basketball standout
Ny'Ceara Pryor was named First Team All-Met by the Metropolitan Basketball Writer Association, as announced on Tuesday.
Pryor was instrumental in the Pioneers' outstanding 2023-24 season. Sacred Heart won both the Northeast Conference (NEC) regular-season and tournament championships and booked their second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. SHU won 20 games for the first time since 2015-16 and had the team's longest win streak (15) since 2008-09.
Pryor continues to collect awards in the early stages of her career, as she became just the second Pioneer to make two All-Met teams, joining Hannah Kimmel (2015 & 2017). For the second consecutive season, she was named the NEC Player of the Year and All-NEC First Team. She was also a 10-time NEC Player of the Week and a two-time Met Basketball Writers Association Division I Women's Player of the Week this season.
Pryor did the opposite of suffering a sophomore slump, seeing her production increase almost across the board in her second season. The Baltimore, Md., native averaged career highs in scoring (18.7 ppg), rebounding (7.1 rpg), assists (4.5 apg) and shooting (.464 fg%). She led the NEC in scoring, assists, steals and field-goal percentage and finished the regular season eighth in the country in total steals (95) and 10th in steals per game (3.2 spg).
